    (I know they aren't going to agree right away, but really, what happens?)

    We have to get all the lame duckers to vote on this even if Boehner agrees?

      Bohner has up until this point been insistent on passing legislation with a majority coming from his Caucus. It's hard to imagine this crew signing on to anything that raises taxes on the wealthy.
        The alternative would be going for something which Democrats would back, and bring the more "moderate" Republicans along to get a majority vote.
         I doubt Bohner would do that though because his party could revolt on that one, and then kick him to the curb.

         He is more likely I believe to let the deadline pass, win his Speakership back, and then allow a vote on the middle-class tax cut, when it actually will be a cut.
         By doing it this way, he avoids blame, and the R's avoid any charges of "raising taxes."

          More than anything, Bohner does not want to appear to be going soft.
