    that Iowa has gone through this year.  That state is in serious need of relief as well right now.

      Most farmers survived the drought pretty well with crop insurance, in some cases, and drought-resistant crops that did better than expected. And lower yields were offset by high prices. Iowa farmers are used to wild weather swings from year to year. It's always a gamble.

      If the drought persists for another year or two, things could get ugly, not just for farmers, but for city dwellers, industries, and power plants that depend on a supply of water

        in the fields and on the local news suggested otherwise.  None of it was good for them or for any of us who rely on their contribution to the food supply.

        But I just do NOT think that Steve King gives a shit about farmers in his state or the rest of us who need them in this country - not anymore than he cares about the people afflicted by Sandy and what they do for all of us.
