    few years ago, on a Tu-134, a beautifully painted IL-76 passed below us at the next flight level down. I just happened to be looking down at that moment as it flashed past perpendicular to our direction. It was mostly bright blue. It was on the ground when we got there.

    They actually are pretty sprightly performers when not overloaded, hot, or high. Kind of like a C-141 but shorter, higher, and with rough-field gear. Almost exactly the same wing area, about 3228 sq ft.

    IL-76: 430,000 lb, 4 x 38,000 lb thrust, .35 lb thrust/ lb wt

    C-141: 342,000 lb, 4 x 20,000 lb thrust, .23 lb thrust/ lb wt

    The IL-76 will land and stop within 1500 ft if need be.

    Nothing about all that negates the video, though!
