  •  All this depends on Demographics and on poaching. (5+ / 0-)

Old White Males make excellent targets. Check out the 40-years and older demographic. Their support for GOPers is based on a low-voltage mish-mash of slogans.

-- What was called "Reagan Democrat" identification some 30 years ago is now much weaker.

-- There aren't many "Bush Democrats."

-- "Romney Democrats" only live inside the Beltway and at Murdoch's lie-for-pay shops.

-- ObamaCare is a big winner for them and for their families.

The working class older males are pretty much done with worshiping rich people as "Job Creators." They're ready to vote against the Right Wing's professional hypocrites.

Move 5% of the guys over to being Democrats by 2016 and the GOP is toast.

Race? Hating unions? Even getting the rape laws rescinded? There's not much the GOPers have to offer to these older guys that matters. Arguably... nothing.

    •  you're right, I'm glad I checked comments before (7+ / 0-)

      commenting myself.

I post to other forums on other subjects inhabited by old white mostly working class men. Although almost universally Republican I've noticed some are for sure NOT racists, others really don't care about who someone sleeps with, others have grown to dislike the bombastic radio, others are strong conservationists.

Obama is a likable guy. If you watch a real time press conference or debate it's just hard to dislike him. Likewise Democratic positions when presented outside the Fox News spin, are common sense and reasonable. I'm more optimistic about issues and policy broadly Democratic than I have been in quite a while.

How big is your personal carbon footprint?
