  •  Ha! Lazy. (8+ / 0-)

What exactly has been the work product of Ann Coulter?  A few books now turned to pulp, right?

However, when you quote her, you feed the monster.  Let her continue her slide with Rush into irrelevance.

Here in S. Florida there is a certain segment of the Hispanic (mostly Cuban) community that will vote for anyone with an Hispanic surname, which is how Marco Rubio became our Senator.  Seems to me one of our most important jobs in welcoming the Hispanic voter to greater participation is to reach these people and give them an alternative.  To do that we must be sure we are nominating great Hispanic candidates in every place we can.

but not the first.  We shouldn't ignore her, or any of the bigots that get airtime.  It's why we went after Lou Dobbs, Flush Rush...frankly we need to make sure every latino and latino ally gets reminded about this.

...is to ask what happens if members of different groups quit working.  In other words, let's consider the consequences of Ann Coulter "going Gault" versus Hispanic laborers doing the same.

So let's see what happens if Ann Coulter quits:

Yup, nothing.  Other than talk shows having to find another annoying wind bag to replace her and maybe a couple fewer books on the remainder table at B&N, if she quit it would make absolutely no difference to the world if she quit doing whatever it is that she does.

In contrast, what happens if Hispanic laborers quit:

Well, down here, new home and apartment construction would virtually stop.  Restaurants would have to close.  After a little longer, produce and meats would start running out in our grocery stores.  And that's just a start.  In other words, if the Hispanice laborers decided to "go Gault", things would grind to a halt fast.

This is not to say that no white collar workers produce anything of value (I'm a white collar worker!), but it is certainly true that the laborers who are so often denigrated in our society are the ones' whose work products have the most immediate impact on society.

If Ann Coulter shrugs, no one would notice. People who talk about "Going Galt" think they are Atlas, but aren't.

If there is an Atlas, it is the people that Ann Coulter despises who are Atlas.
