  •  if anyone has to be... (5+ / 0-)

enticed or invited to vote, then this is what they get. It's akin to starving yourself because no one offered to fix you dinner or invited you to a restaurant.

The "wrong issues" is always going to be an arbitrary construct...wrong by whose reckoning?

    •  Agree. Republicans don't have to be wooed into (6+ / 0-)

voting.  They will crawl over broken glass to defeat Democrats, even voting time and again against their economic and personal self interest for the perverse need to have their social prejudices reinforced.  Unless the rest of us want to be under the boot of the GOP agenda, we better wake up and pay attention to what has happened in Michigan, soon to be repeated in another blue state ruled by a red party.

They have a party that obviously and substantially advances what they say they will advance.  The republicans did exactly what they said they would in regards to obstruction, etc.  When you look around and see the GOP agenda winning despite the fact that the Democrats are winning most of the elections and then blame people for not voting you're pointing your finger at the wrong place.  People vote when they see it having a real effect, and when they see it not have an effect then they don't.

In 2010 people saw that virtually nothing had been done to rein in banks despite a massive Democratic majority and they thought, "why bother," what's the point in voting for a party that doesn't make significant progress with a near supermajority?

The revolution will not be televised. But it will be blogged, a lot. Probably more so than is necessary.
