51% of people polled were against gay marriage, today that is down to 31%.

So why is so hard to believe that people like Crist are not of that changing stance? Are people no longer capable of changing?

The Dkos crowd still shocks me from time to time.

I care about his record and it sucks.

It shocks me from time to time how some in the DKos crowd are so quick to embrace someone who has years of bad acts just because he mouths a few pretty words.

      •  the LGBT community should demand he change (0+ / 0-)

Crist's changing parties is a real opportunity to demand that he publicly change his views on LGBT issues.  Does any other prominent DEM gubernatorial candidate support marriage equality?  If not, this is a real opportunity for the LGBT community to demand that Crist support marriage equality and other LGBT issues in exchange for LGBT support.

        •  Most of the Democratic Governors (0+ / 0-)

support marriage equality these days. Let's see, Gov. Baldacci of Maine and Gov. Lynch of NH and Gov. Dean of VT were early signers of bills years ago. Current Govs. Dayton of MN, Cuomo of NY, and O'Mally of MD, Gregoire of WA, Abercrombie of HI, Quinn of IL, Ind. Gov Chaffee of RI....

That's off the top of my head. It's far more unusual at this point that a D gov doesn't.

At least they should demand Crist promise ON VIDEO that he would work his ass off to pass LGBT employment non-discrimination protection, something that Florida doesn't have and would be very helpful. Make him promise to bring a bill to the floor, pass or fail.

          •  I meant DEM candidate in FL... (0+ / 0-)

Sorry - I should have been clearer.  I meant to ask whether any other prospective DEM gubernatorial candidate in FL supported marriage equality.  Following your suggestion,  FL LGBTs should make Crist promise to support marriage equality and get it on video in exchange for their support (and lack of opposition for past sins against the LGBT community).

      this issue.
I really don't understand the hate for Crist here. I voted for Sink for governor and every newspaper in FL endorsed her, but she lost to the crook. Everyone was shocked!
Sink hasn't made a name for herself statewide since her loss and I don't think she'll win if she ran. She's not good at glad-handing.
Crist is good at glad-handing and populism. He can read the temperature of the voters. No real Dem has the popularity in FL or state-wide name recognition that Crist has. Maybe another Dem will come to the forefront, but I don't see it.

I share a birthday with John Lennon and Bo Obama.

It's vigorous disagreement with his political positions.

I understand you have the luxury of supporting him. You're not a target of his.

about Florida. They see an occasional democrat win from South Florida and get excited the state is open for a progressive.

Florida's best hope state wide is a centrist or conservadem like Nelson. Im getting tired of these democrats who keep trying to get far left candidates on state wide elections. What a waste of time and money. They may as well start putting big bucks into state wide Wyoming Elections.

    •  The last I recall, Obama also changed his stance (0+ / 0-)

or "evolved" on gay marriage.  He officially opposed marriage equality in 2008 as I recall.

We should welcome positive Crist's change on this issue. Lot's of people are changing their mind on this issue.

We have nothing to fear but fear itself
