While I applaud the diarist's intention of reporting on things written at right-wing sites, more attention needs to be paid to reporting well.

This is a rather poor diary -- long on rhetoric, short on facts, and some of the assertions presented as facts are wrong.

One of the biggest errors is that the diary misattributes the only quote it presents:

So, unable to take the high road, Mark Steyn decided to stay classy and compare Professor Mann to famous Penn State child molester Jerry Sandusky. In a July 15th blog post Steyn parted the lips of his ass and said:
(Professor Mann) has molested and tortured data in the service of politicized science that could have dire economic consequences for the nation and planet.
This gives the reader the incorrect impression that these are the words of Mark Steyn. They're not. They're the words of Rand Simberg, and should be clearly identified as such.

The full sentence Simberg wrote, and which Steyn quoted, reads:

Mann could be said to be the Jerry Sandusky of climate science, except that instead of molesting children, he has molested and tortured data in the service of politicized science that could have dire economic consequences for the nation and planet.
Simberg has since deleted that sentence from the blog post in which it originally appeared. But those are Simberg's words, not Steyn's.

By all means criticize Steyn for agreeing with the sentiments Simberg expressed. Steyn is very deserving of such criticism in this regard. But please make sure when doing so to attribute Steyn's words to Steyn and Simberg's words to Simberg.
