responsible serious adults oppose marijuana reform because that is simply the responsible serious adult thing to do.

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men.

That's what RSAs usually point to.  It seems to work something like this: Look, I'm an RSA and I support it.  All the other RSAs I know here in Congress support it.  Even over on the other side of the aisle, I can see some people who must be RSAs, supporting it!  Since we're United States Congresspeople here in the responsible, serious adult capitol of the universe, Washington DC, and fourteen or fifteen of the very most fully responsible, serious adults I know here support it, it follows as night from day that THE ENTIRE WORLD agrees, and dissent is as wrongheaded as it is futile!

Personally, I'm coming to see it as more a national attitude that needs to be addressed and turned around.  Making marijuana legal is an idea with a lot of broad popular support right now, but I'm starting to think it's not terribly deep.  Like, I hear a lot of voters saying things like, Sure, I think it should really be legal now, but I don't want to see stores selling it.  You can parse a logical position out of a ludicrous contradiction like that if you really work at it, but what I get instead is that lots of voters are really rather conflicted over what they see as the moral issue.
