  •  It's been diaried before. 2010 Dem turnout was (9+ / 0-)

diminished, but that wasn't the decisive factor. Republican turnout was huge because of the inevitable racist backlash to our election of America's First Black President.

Progressives, even the disgruntled ones, turned out and voted in 2010. But many of our marginal voters suffered from the delusion that we were now living in a "post-racial" society and progress could carry on without them.

The progressive agenda took a hit because we chose to elect the FBP immediately after eight years of conservative dominance.

In the long run, I think it will be worth it. The Obama Presidency and the TeaPuppet backlash have fractured the national GOP. But we lost a lot of ground by losing so many state legislatures in a census year... we're going to have to claw our way back, in states like Michigan, one election cycle after another.

Michigan's gun carry laws may win renewed allegiance from a portion of their existing base, but it doesn't threaten the political balance of power as seriously as the emergency managers, union busting, financial feudalism and other constitutional skullduggery.

    Have you noticed?
    Politicians who promise LESS government
    only deliver BAD government.
