he's said one thing and yet quite another has transpired.

I do not expect the fed to simply roll over on this, when they are comfortable killing people over marijuana.

Plus, he absolutely fed the medical Dispensaries to the DEA as a bone to the wingnuts over fast and furious.

    Yes.... yes he did.

he would do it again in a nano-second.

it would be good and smart and correct to end federal prohibition, but the fed likes the power it gives them, especially with regards to the 10th amendment and taking back power from the people where they have exercised it.

    •  except that the Dispensary raids were already (0+ / 0-)

      happening before Fast&Furious broke out.

If I ran this circus, things would be DIFFERENT!

    •  my feeling is, he personally doesn't give (6+ / 0-)

a shit, has bigger things on his plate, but you're right, he's equally willing to throw the Drug War to conservatives as a bone.

What he doesn't get is they're never satisfied. Throwing them a bone does nothing.

he said he wouldn't prosecute users in those states.  Which means we can expect the DOJ to go after distributors, just like with medical marijuana.

The revolution will not be televised. But it will be blogged, a lot. Probably more so than is necessary.

to get a bank loan or merchant credit card account for any marijuana-related business, as is currently the case for medical marijuana dispensaries. DoJ classifies that as "money laundering".

HSBC to pay $1.9 billion U.S. fine in money-laundering case

HSBC's money-laundering lapses in Mexico and elsewhere were cited in an extensive Senate report earlier this year, but the documents filed in court on Tuesday provided new details.

Despite the known risks of doing business in Mexico, the bank put the country in its lowest risk category, which excluded $670 billion in transactions from the monitoring systems, according to the documents.

Bank officials repeatedly ignored internal warnings that HSBC's monitoring systems were inadequate, the Justice Department said. In 2008, for example, the CEO of HSBC Mexico was told that Mexican law enforcement had a recording of a Mexican drug lord saying that HSBC Mexico was the place to launder money.

Mexican traffickers used boxes specifically designed to the dimensions of an HSBC Mexico teller's window to deposit cash on a daily basis.

Oh... I'm wrong. You can't get help with marijuana, but if you launder drug money for Mexican cartels you can just pay a fine.
