Republicans (and conservatives in general) are always grasping at wisps of straws, hoping to start a scandal to gin up some outrage votes.  Even more so, since the last few years have shown us that they have nothing to offer us to actually vote for them instead of against the other guy.

From this funeral, to Benghazi, to birtherism, and even back in the day with Whitewater and all the other garbage from the 90's... it's such a common phenomenon, we need a name for it.  A short, catchy and new name that says it all and can be pulled out at a moment's notice to dismiss the next fake-scandal.

I will propose scandal fishing, along the lines of complement fishing--- lame efforts at manipulating people into saying nice things about you so you can avoid looking your reality in the face.

I don't know if scandal fishing is any good, but it's a start.  Some other Kossacks come up with the brilliant "right to mooch" instead of "right to work", so I know we've got some wordsmiths out there.

Conservatives need to realize that their Silent Moral Majority is neither silent, nor moral, nor a majority.
