elementary grades. It also applies to anniversaries of these tragedies. On the one-year anniversary of the Columbine tragedy, several young men at my daughter's high school decided to show up at school in long black trench coats. Afraid, many students wanted to leave school that day but couldn't with out pre-approval unless a parent personally can in and picked them up. My daughter called me and asked to be pick up. When I showed up at the school, the counselor criticized me for giving into a 'silly fear' when everything at the school was perfectly safe.
