medicinal marijuana to treat medical conditions such as generalized anxiety disorder and social phobia, either under the advice of doctors, or with self-medication.

In a society that does not offer universal health care I believe it is immoral to make home remedies illegal, and leave patients at the mercies of gigantic pharmaceutical companies and "health" delivery systems motivated primarily by profit.

So, if you are a wealth white suburbanite and tell your psychiatrist you have anxiety you can get just about as much Xanax, Lorazapam, or other chemicals as you like. If you are poor, or a minority and touch these same chemicals without a prescription, or self-medicate with home grown marijuana you can go to jail.

This is clear racism, and classism and is unjust and diminishes us as a nation and as a people.  We should aspire to higher ideals of freedom, justice, and health care for all, which should include repeal and reform of our drug laws.

I had added an extra "smart-ass" section to my post suggesting the single quickest, and most cost-effective way to reduce illegal marijuana drug use, is to make it legal.  Problem solved. But, the post is already too long.

But, there are those who seem to have mental health issues, and some controversial, yet worrisome evidence suggests that heavy marijuana use by young people with a susceptibility to schizophrenia make exacerbate their condition.

But, our experience with legalization of alcohol suggests that those below 21 will find it more difficult to acquire pot if it is legal, than the situation now, where vast numbers of illegal sources are kept in business by the illegality.
