  •  I live 30 minutes from Newtown. (13+ / 0-)

I have two daughters in school.  My town is very much the same as Newtown.  Statistics mean nothing to me, today.

But if you want to talk statistics, where's the statistics on the need for individuals to carry such absolute and lethal self-defense? Where's the perspective on what level of self-defense is required?  The very statistics you cite to put the risk of gun violence in perspective should convince most people that there is no need for a gun, period.

Yet if you listen to the RKBA crowd, you would think gun violence is your number threat to personal safety and the safety of the ones you love.  Seems to me that the NRA and the pro-gun crowd are hell bent on creating a level of fear to the point where everyone either owns a gun or believes everyone owns a gun.

When "responsible" gun owners who take training classes are taught that if you pull a gun you must be prepared to use it, and to shoot to kill not wound or disable, perspective is being systematically tossed out the door.

The priest said, "Today's sermon is called 'Liars', but first I have a question. How many of you have read Chapter 66 in Matthew?" Nearly every hand went up. "You're just the group I need to speak to," the priest said. "There's no such chapter."
