  •  Like you, I teach high school (0+ / 0-)

Though I heard about a school shooting in the morning, I didn't learn any details until sixth hour, when I surfed some news sites while my students were taking a test.

Seventh hour I had free.  I did some prep for Monday, but I also went and stood in the corner of my room -- in the Safe Spot where we are supposed to huddle during a code red lockdown -- and bawled my eyes out.

I packed up my stuff so that when the bell rang to end the day I could leave school immediately.  I needed to get home to see my son, and more than anything I had to leave the school environment.

I hope I'll be ok on Monday.  But right now I don't know if I will be.

    This one hurts.  A lot.
