The problem of evil is a very serious one. One that is so serious that theologians either admit that they have no answer or tell lies about it.

Any god that needs prayer isn't worthy of worship.

The problem is one of scale. God is benevolent, but God also experiences the Universe in time and space on a cosmic scale. From this perspective, the difference between a short human life and a long one is imperceptible. God's benevolence can be observed in how, in the words of MLK, the arc of history is long, but bends towards justice.

I suppose this is as close as I can come to a concise statement about how I view God: as a force that, over great aeons, pulls the universe and the sentient beings therein towards goodness and unity and away from division and strife. God as The Law Of Moral Dynamics: though be ever so concentrated in a particular place and time, the total Evil in the universe always decreases.

I have no problems with people trying to find a way to understand, but every explanation that is coherent shows that Christian doctrine is false in those areas.
