  •  I don't know how the problem can be solved (5+ / 0-)

The only way to do that would be if guns didn't exist in the first place. But they do. And people have them in their possession already. How many of the people who own guns now have the potential to snap? Who knows?

Military-grade weapons are an excess that have no place in the hands of anyone other than the military. It's one thing to keep a gun in a drawer next to your bed, quite another having an assault rifle like the ones soldiers carry.

Guns will never be completely banned, and nuts will find a way of getting them if they really want, but making it as miserable a process as possible for unstable individuals to lay their hands on them is a necessary prerequisite.

Somebody has to do something, and it's just incredibly pathetic that it has to be us.

    •  Most hunting rifles are as accurate as military (0+ / 0-)

rifles.  Yes, they might not be as fast, but they are more accurate.  Eliminate semi-automatic pistols and you still have revolvers that can be reloaded quickly.

We have always been a violent nation...and so is most of the world.

I feel for the families today and the heartache they are experiencing.  And I see all of the emotion from other dKos members.

But where was everyone when 600,000 Iraqis were killed?  Or where is everyone when 25,000 people die tomorrow from starvation?

Do we only care about death when it's within our shores?

You can blame the NRA for these deaths.  Who do you blame and what do you do to stop the violence in the rest of the world?
