I was a gun owner for over half my life, but when my wife & I moved in together she demanded a 'no gun' policy. I agreed, & while I do enjoy shooting at ranges, I've never felt the need since to own a firearm.

My parents were horribly abusive, & one of the ways they controlled us was with threats of gun violence.

When my father found out my mother [& obviously the kids] were part black, he said that if he did not needed us to take care of him [he had suffered a stroke & multiple cardiac arrests] then he would get one of his guns & "kill her & all her kids." He wasn't lying.

When my sister got pregnant whilst still living at home she had an abortion because had our parents known she was pregnant, they would've killed her. As they would've done had they known she had an abortion.

My next door neighbor went to his daughter & son-in-law's house the night they got married - he shot through the door with a shotgun, & had they not fled & the police hadn't arrived, he would've killed them.

My uncle once shot a man & served either very little or no time. [I was under the age of five at the time, so I don't remember which.] Of course, the man he shot was African-American. That was the only reason I remember being given for the shooting.

These are but a VERY FEW examples from my youth.

Guns are a plague in this country - a plague where humans are the carriers and the victims.

My other car is a Tardis.
