I did say that I get the anger that leading the discussion on gun control, however.

...said that we cannot discuss changing policy now because we need to be compassionate. The only way that can be so is if you hold discussing changing policy to be the opposite of being compassionate. It might be that way for you, but not for most of us. We discuss changing policy because of our compassion.

      •  No. You keep saying something (0+ / 0-)

I didn't say.  My OPINION is that we should defer this discussion for a freaking day to process this tragedy.

But if you like handing your power over to me, since you seem to be so distressed over my opinion, then fine.

        •  You have said that we can't talk about this now... (1+ / 0-)

...because we have to be compassionate, as if the two are separate, as if the two are opposite. They're not. Talking about changing gun control policy is not a failure to demonstrate compassion. It is a demonstration of compassion to want to change policy to work to prevent these events. But by not discussing it now, it doesn't get discussed, and the status quo is preserved, as evidenced by how we're always told to not talk about it when it happens and then no policies are changed afterward, and it all ends up happening again and again. Your proposal that we not talk about it has been proven a failure. We keep being told that we'll do this later, but later never comes. Calls for us to do this later is nothing but an attempt to keep us from doing anything at all. And doing nothing is not compassionate.
