expect him to give a shit about any high-minded, civil-rights type of legacy. He is looking for an entirely different legacy.

This is a man whose unbending purpose and intent is to drive the reassertion of state's rights (and the rights of corporations). If a Democratic governor and a Democratic president can advance major legal and social changes by refusing to defend selected laws, and their tactic of refusing to defend denies the opposition legal standing to challenge in court, I feel sure Roberts will be all for that because Republican govs and prezs can turn around and do exactly the same thing.

Remember that his ruling on the ACA was a devil's bargain that took a significant bite out of the current understanding of the Interstate Commerce and Necessary and Proper clauses, and set a precedent that limits the federal gov's ability to withhold federal funding as a way to compel certain kinds of state compliance with federal goals. The right wing, especially Tenthers, won HUGE AND LONG TERM in the ACA ruling.

YES WE DID -- AGAIN. FOUR MORE YEARS.
