I feel like this tragedy is a wake up call for a lot of people, including me. I never felt very strongly about gun control and I am ashamed to say that I saw it as little more than a losing issue politically until yesterday. Now it seems insane to me that we allow weapons that were designed for military use into the hands of civilians.

I think there are probably other people like me, or even people who own guns but now recognize that the right should not be unlimited. So I think maybe we can achieve at least some change on this, but as you said, there has to be a shift in public opinion. We also have to have a Congress that will pass it, which is unlikely but maybe possible in the wake of this tragedy. But the last thing we want to do is go on a losing mission that only drives up donations to the NRA and gets them even more allies in Congress.
