    Sorry for joining late, but was busy with chili and talking with almost lost, old friends.  I just snacked tonight, but tomorrow the chili will be ready.  After I was in the middle of it I realized that I had no cumin nor oregano, a quick trip to the closeby supermarket is in order tomorrow morning.

    I made Christmas goodies this year for the first time in a long time.  I shipped Lizzies, Black Walnut Cream Cheese Pound Cake, Hickory Nut Cream Cheese Pound Cake, Apricot Bread, and Black Walnut White "Chocolate" Toll House Cookies to family back home, and provided neighbors with them.  I was not able to get the Myers Rum Truffles (with a much improved recipe) ready in time to ship home, but gave some to neighbors.  I shall be more than happy to provide recipes for any of them upon request.

    For the first time in years I was not alone to celebrate Christmas.  My friend and her family invited me to spend all day with them Monday (they celebrate on Christmas Eve), and I helped with the cooking (of course!) and was there as gifts were exchanged and good fellowship was had.  For the first time in a long time I felt like part of a family again.
