  •  I like Capuano... (20+ / 0-)

but it appears that Markey is more interested in position and better financed and we cannot afford to have a split vote.

    •  I recall Capuano had some ethics problems iirc? (2+ / 0-)

Which is a shame because he really helped me with some wheelchair accessibility problems with that stupid MassPort shuttle to Logan from Aquarium (I took the Silver Line from Day One, no more accessibility problems, yay!).  I recall being published in the Globe's Letters to the Editor section next to Sen. Kerry, praising Capuano for his help (I've probably outed myself with that one ;p).  It was kind of a MassDem high point for me, my tiny self sharing the stage with Sen. Kerry :).

Have his ethics been resolved?  Or is he going to get beat over the head with them in a campaign?  I left the state before that saw resolution, iirc.

His skeletons would all be dragged out.

Capuano is younger than Markey, is a solid Democrat on every major issue, and is a real firebrand from what I hear.  Markey's public speaking style can put you sleep, and I say that as someone who used to live in his Congressional district (and his state district).

who would run well in Central Mass., normally a Brown stronghold. Capuano did poorly with woman in 2009 primary, has skeletons, represents a district where he's not had a real race to worry about since 1998, and where the Dem nominee will do fine anyway. I don't see what he brings. McGovern is just as good on the issues. On some (like human rights) he's ahead of the curve.

Republicans...think the American standard of living is a fine thing--so long as it doesn't spread to all the people. And they admire the Government of the United States so much that they would like to buy it. Harry S. Truman

            •  McGovern has some ethics issues as well (0+ / 0-)

Also, he barely knows his district, most of which used to belong to John Olver.  I can't see him running for Senate at this time.
