To get their 15 minutes of fame, even if post humous?

It comes from the slime of the television set. That's my guess.

I don't think its any one thing but a general trend.
But I think there's been a real coarsening of society in my lifetime, for which again I point to the Boomers.
I don't want to idolize that time too much but there sure was a different set of social behaviors that were just accepted then. People conformed---and then came the nonconformists (Talkin' 'bout my generation)
I think we live in a much more permissive society now in terms of personal lifestyles, thanks to the Boomers, with a LOT more choices to make in every aspect. I think rights have expanded tremendously in my lifetime and none more than gun rights. I also think gun and associated things like cammo and bests have so proliferated that its real easy for anyone to get an arsenal.
But I don't think youre going to get the toothpaste back in the tube. I would like to see a national conversation on this beyond hysteria.
I think it starts with raising people's consciousness. Thats changed a lot in old exlrrps day, like about smoking and seat belts. Everybody wears setbelts nowadays and you can't smoke in most public places but back in The Day, everybody smoked everywhere, cigarette ads were everywhere and there were no seatbelts.

      Happy just to be alive
