      Not all democratic senators are created equal.  Judged against his peers, Kerry is more tolerable than most.  Why the WH would propose to put his seat in play is beyond me...

      It's not like Kerry is indispensable as SOS.

      I don't remember any criticism of Democratic use of the filibuster when the Republicans were in the majority.  Granted, the Democratic Senators did not abuse it, but we recognized it as the only way the political minority has to delay bad legislation, and try to fight for concessions.  Perchance those on our side who oppose reform do not want to be deprived the tool when they need it.

      Workers of the world, unite! You have nothing to lose but your shackles. It is by the picket line and direct action that true freedom will be won, not by electing people who promise to screw us less than the other guy.
