    Although the thing was a bit of a money grab when Rembrandt Films owned the Tolkien rights.

    BTW, I almost wonder if Dietch and Chuck Jones had a contest to out do each other in WTFery when it came those '60s Tom & Jerry cartoons...

      Gene Dietch didn't really like Tom and Jerry.  Chuck Jones just didn't get them.

      The Dietch Tom and Jerry shorts were excruciatingly bad and for that reason he has a reputation as a hack by some animation fans.  But when he was working on material which actually interested him, he was capable of some visually striking and charming animation.
