    •  Ah yesss! The old intermittent short demon. My (4+ / 0-)

favorite was the one caused by the industrial lawnmower shredding the insulation on the wires to the pathway lites, but only some of them, and they would short from one to another only when the sprinkler system came on. That is a classic troubleshooting story.......

expensive enough for them to not fix it they will. Do you call them every single time it goes out and keep track so you can subtract days when it's not working? That is what has worked best for me in the past. We had a really strange thing happen in Houston, the cable guy hooked our cable up to a different service, not the one we were paying. When the other people discovered it and we showed them where we'd been paying it became a huge fight between cable companies and they left us completely out of it. It was a strange deal all right. We got to laugh though and that's pretty special since cable companies usually just piss you off.

      •  So far I call them about a week after the last (4+ / 0-)

time they came out and tell them it started going out again soon after they last came here. They schedule an appointment for a week later. Someone comes out and acts like I am just a weirdo complainer and they replace a cord, ask me if I know how to re-boot it, etc. Same thing happens over and over.
