    That explains why hearing gunshots near the school is a commonplace thing?  I just read, on redstate.com, of all places, someone from Tennessee saying that he lives in a right-to-carry state, but guns are not allowed to be fired anywhere near schools.

      as if it means something. What's close? What's near? What did the guy mean by often? Once a day? Once a year for a lifelong resident?

      I'm not defending shots near a school, or anywhere. There are things people should not do, but on occasion do anyway, like let their little kids ride on sit-down lawn mowers. It horrifies me, and sometimes does not go well (gruesome results), but people do it.

      No one should shoot at coyotes anywhere near a school, or at all. But...
