  •  I don't think this solves all the problems. Give (3+ / 0-)

it a read and sign it.  I think it addresses a lot.  My petition to the White House

we petition the obama administration to:
Enforce the KEEP in the Second Amendment.

The Charlton Heston level of gun possession. You can bear any arm but you must KEEP that arm. The gun must be in your hand or

    - Felony to fail to secure your deadly weapons.

    - An accessory charge if your weapon was used in a crime.

    - Possession of a gun w/o a serial # - intent to murder.

And if your weapon was used in a crime and you died trying to KEEP it, your estate would be liable for all damages your weapon caused while not in your possession.

Gun control responsibility back to the gun owners, where it belongs.

You must physically prove continuity of possession every 5 years. If you cannot physically present the actual gun for continuity of possession, you are charged with felony-failure to secure a deadly weapon.

God I hope other people can see the beauty of this

This idea also has a self-testing mental clause.  Those suffering with paranoid delusions too severe to comply with the KEEP provisions of gun ownership, would not ever make it to legal gun ownership.

    •  Accountability = Gun Owner Liability Insurance (5+ / 0-)

They should be made to get insurance on every gun they own, just like car drivers have to insure every vehicle. And if it costs them $1,000 a year to own a Bushmaster then its just the cost of Freedom. In addition to the horrible loss suffered by the families on Newtown I bet they will also bear the finacial burdens of dealing with everything from funerals to mental health care for survivors for the rest of their lives. If some insurance company had to cover the financial impact of it they would make sure sure anybody who had one of their policies was a responsible owner. This would also be a great way to enlist the insurance lobby on our side for once.

also "you buy it, you buy it for life".

        Outlaw second hand sales.

        No constitutional protections for sales.

If not us ... who? If not here ... where? If not now ... when?
