  •  Thanks. (8+ / 0-)

The topic  of gun control is badly politicized and over-simplified. After this tragedy in Connecticut, nauseatingly so.

Reminds me of the Terry Schiavo furor, in which all people of good sense and goodwill were supposed to feel ONE way. The topper, for me, was the popular progressive blog during the agonizing period before the court ruling on the termination of Schiavo's life support, proclaiming"Terry Schiavo is a VEGETABLE!!" I felt I just could not take it anymore. I'm rapidly reaching the point where I can't take this anymore.

The discussion must be free from hyperbole. It must admit all conscientious opinions, or it isn't sincere.

    •  what it reminds me of is (7+ / 0-)

9-11 and Muslims!!! I see the same thing here in light of the shootings and RBKA!!! People are looking for a scapegoat. I'm no gun lover, and we do need to have the discussion, but RATIONALLY.

Live your life. Take chances. Be crazy. Don't wait. Because right now is the oldest you've ever been and the youngest you'll be ever again.-- some wise person on the Internets.

      •  I believe there's an element (3+ / 0-)

benefiting from the hysteria around this discussion, cynically stoking it.

Unless you're approaching the question of gun control rationally, you're buying in.
