  •  NRA Fuels Gun Sales w/Fear (21+ / 0-)

Its funny but the average NRA member is usually one of the most fearful types of people that I have ever met.  Fear of home invasion, fear of mugging, fear of spree killing, fear of government, fear of liberals, fear of banks, fear of taxes.  I know and have met quite a few of these individuals.  Think about Palin and her crosshairs.

The NRA fuels this fear.  When Obama was elected it became a banner year for gun and ammo sales because the NRA fueled the notion that guns and ammo would be legislated or taxed out of existence.

The NRA is scamming its members.

From what I've seen some of them are praying for a home invasion or mugging so they can get to finally use their toys.

      •  These people collect guns for one reason (5+ / 0-)

and that is that they hope to be presented with the opportunity to kill a man just to watch him die without having to go to jail for it because jail is scary.

All the other explanations and excuses are just commentary on this central truth.

        •  I guess I'd have to say (0+ / 0-)

that I disagree with that assessment. With passion. Some would say I have a small arsenal locked up in my garage. Me, I'd say I have two hunting rifles that have allowed me to provide meat for my family for nearly 40 years. And a couple of shotguns for bird hunting. Did I mention the large bore pistol I pack when I am in country that averages one brown bear per square mile? Never pulled the trigger but had it drawn once in a face off with a big brownie at twenty feet. We agreed to go opposite directions.
Personally, I think it is important to not generalize. I was on a plane going south once and my seatmate was a raving conservative who was convinced that if Gore got elected he would lose all his guns. I mentioned that I was a wild eyed pinko liberal gun owner. He couldn't get his mind around that because he lived in a world of generalization.

        •  Rwanda (0+ / 0-)

Sometimes I think they are waiting for a sgnal to start shooting.  Sort of like the radio shows in Rwanda that called for the massacres.

I wonder if Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity said go get you a liberal and shoot'em if some of these folks would do it.

      •  Strange but true. (0+ / 0-)

I think some would like that scenario.
