  •  My ex-husband had 3 handguns when we met (3+ / 0-)

including one with sentimental value he had acquired during his time in the Marines in Vietnam. I was uncomfortable with the idea of guns in my home, and he had no real reason to need them in his work, so he got rid of two and stored the third, disassembled, off site in Cosmolene. Sometimes it takes someone asking, expressing concern, without being preachy about it.

Those who do not understand history are condemned to repeat it... in summer school.

    •  Made my boyfriend give up his guns (3+ / 0-)

      My father's example inspired me.

Was living with a boyfriend in New York City and he brought in pistols he'd gotten in the air force for "protection."

But brought up in the suburbs he'd open the door for whoever knocked, without checking to see who it was, first.

As far as I could see, if those pistols got used, they would be used on us.

I asked him to get rid of the guns, and when he refused, said either he did, or I'd turn him over to the police.

      The guns got gone.
