that the mandatory administration of psych meds couldn't cure.

    •  Or a very high tax on ammo (3+ / 0-)

Depending on the type of ammo, how about $10,000 per bullet? That oughta slow sales.

Types for deer hunting, etc. could be in a different tax bracket.

I love it that Obama's channeling Harry Truman: "I don't give 'em hell; I just tell the truth and they think it's hell!"

a couple of years ago. Make people save up to buy ammo.

Unfortunately for this idea, there is ample equipment available for people to make their own ammo - it's called reloading your shells. A lot of target shooters do it to try to get their best accuracy in shooting competitions.

Kind of like hydroponic equipment for 'weed' growers.

Because you could always place draconian limits on store bought powder and force them to do so.

I'm sure the sale of massive quantities of saltpeter, although legal, would raise a few eyebrows.

You may think that. I couldn't possibly comment.-- Francis Urqhart

of those purchases (at least in CA) because they are basically explosives.
The amount needed to propel a bullet out of a gun is very small. A little goes a long way.

I more agree that that ammo purchases should be recorded & that data tracked. Armor piercing ammo shouldn't be made or in anyway available for civilian use.

Re: reloading - the powder & lead bullets are pretty easy to make at home, but the bullet casings and primers are not. Those could be limited or tracked somewhat. Some casings are   reusable, but they have to be collected after use.

The chemicals used to make powder are extremely common, saltpeter is used in a lot of things. Eyebrows need not be affected.
