I think if you multiply too many guns, little mental health care with a society that breeds violence in its young males with movies and games you multiply the effect.  Japan has games.  That by itself doesn't do it.  We have the games put together with the guns and the society that encourages violence at every level, so we get the multiplier.

I will take your work for it regarding the violent video games and the youth crime rate.  But in individuals who are prone to this sort of thing, I can't help but think it fuels the fire.

This is supposed to be the reality-based community. You have a right to your own feelings, but not to your own facts.

Yes, overall violence is not as high as it was 20 years ago.  But I am not talking about overall violence.  I am talking about mentally unstable youth who may be influenced more than is typical by very violent video games.  Certainly the rate of mass shootings has not declined, but is  becoming a very common event.  The Norwegian shooter played violent games.  The Montreal shooter did as well.  That was two of two on the first Google page I looked at.  Anecdotal, certainly, but worth lookiing at.  And there have been studies to show that violent television for children predicts young adult aggressive behavior.  Certainly, violent video games can be expected to have an even stronger effect.

We are indeed a fact-based community.  I assume your defensiveness is because you enjoy violent gaming.   But let's not put on blinders because we don't want to see the answers.
