The idea that we should control people rather controlling the objects that turn people into high-level dangers is so ridiculous that I can only see it as a distraction thrown up by those who don't want us to control the objects they love more than life itself.  And now they're in league with progressives who've always dreamed of remaking society in such a humane way that nobody is damaged and angry.  That's not an alliance I see much future in.

you don't think that people that are a danger to themselves or others are worthy of discussion?

Gonna have to disagree with you.

the shooter, and take appropriate measures in ADDITION to addressing the problem of easy access to guns and ammnuition.  I cannot agree with folks who either think there is nothing we can do to prevent these attacks  without restricting their liberties, or thinking you can do nothing to prevent crazy people from acting on their demons.  To me that is to admit defeat , something I refuse to do.  We can do better , regardless of where you fall on the ideological scale.

If you could make high-capacity weapons disappear, then you could turn a shooting with 20 innocent children murdered into a shooting with fewer innocent children murdered.

If you could stop people before they get so scrambled that they can even aim a gun at a child, then you can prevent the shooting altogether.

Neither one can possibly work 100%. Either one could save innocent lives.

Oh, and when you suggest that many people are just bringing it up as a distraction -- I bet you're right.
