  •  I didn't start wearing glasses except to read when (7+ / 0-)

I was about 39 , maybe 40. now i really need trifocals , but Medicare doesn't pay for glasses at all unless you have underlying illness causing problems. Doc , thorouogh guy , sent me to opthamologist in August to see how my eyes were - wanted to check for macular degeneration because of diabetes. Dude said I had "mild presbyoptia"  (sp? - I've known the word for many years but not seen it spelled in many years) but no sign on macular crap , glaucoma or anything yucky. He said I was at borderline for him to script trifocals , obviously did need bifocals - and to keep getting the $12.98 specials at Dollar General as long as they worked for me. Sensible dude. Jesse can't see shit without his glasses , and he is 17 and therefore automatically weirded out about his appearance.  Medicaid gets his glasses, we'll all get his contacts , and a small group of conspirators makes sure he gets stuffed with quality food several times a week.

Good friends are a dime per molecule.
