9 isn't related to 8.   There are only 16 clues, so 4 x 4.

9 could be P.I.   so 5 is I?

9 is P, so 5 is I   (together P I)

then 10 is CP   (PCP)

PACT, so I suppose 11 is CAP.

so

```x X xx X xxx X xxxxi N in L nil O lionp C cp A cap T pactx X xx X xxx X xxxx
```

I think 2 is TO   (the dog is toto).   Then if 1 is T, 14 could be TOWIT   (which then includes 1, 2 and the letters WI).

If so, then "inch" is wrong, and it's ONCI which doesn't make sense.   Oh, well....

5 is I and the president is IDI

so 14 is ID
15 is DIP

• ##### SPOILER: the correct answer to 14 is not(1+ / 0-)
Recommended by:

ID, it's ...

14. with 1 and 2, also
DI.

1 = t
2= to

So if 14 = di, then 14 + 1 + 2 = di + t + to = ditto.

1 is O, and 13 is is I   (one to zero)

• ##### oh wait(2+ / 0-)
Recommended by:

1 could be T and 13 is D  (TD is a score), and DTs are the shakes.

so

```t O to x xxx x xxxxi N in L nil O lionp C pc A cap T pactd I di P dip x xxxx
```

• ##### Well done! (Although the explanation for 13(2+ / 0-)

is a little different than what you came up with).

13. with 1, this follows num [or: a shake]
You're right, the answer is DT.

And you're right that the alternate clue I provided, a shake, refers to delirium tremens, the DTs.

I provided that alternate clue because after composing the main clue I decided it might be a shade too difficult. Almost everyone will be familiar with what the clue refers to, but probably not with the abbreviation for this thing -- nor with the abbreviation used in the clue.

This is a clue where capitalization makes a big difference. The clue, properly capitalized, reads: with 1, this follows Num.

Yes: Num is a proper name. It's the abbreviation for Book of Numbers in the Old Testament. The book which follows it is Deuteronomy -- abbreviated DT.

that was tough, but UnionMade's breakthrough did it.

The final Juliecrostic is still unsolved.   Fordian and I think that the missing row starts with duet (the quilt is "duvet" minus the alien "V") and the next is duets.   But no matter what the last letter is, we haven't a clue about the verticals.

Oncilla photo was also the solution to the JulieCrostic of the Sunday warm-up on Dec. 1st.

That must be relevant....
