    thought of that as a privilege. Operating them certainly is. Fees are required and the privilege can be suspended or withdrawn by government for infractions.

    Interesting information on Madison and the evolution of wording of the Amendment. Based on that I don't see a purpose for such a right any longer. Privilege, sure.

    A well-regulated privilege.

      That a lot of people who insist on "strict originalist" interpretations of the constitution are unwilling to do so with the 2nd amendment, and on top of that contend that the 1st dozen or so words carry no meaning.

      It's as idiotic as the old canard that humans only use 10% of their brain.  Although the people insisting that the 2nd amendment implies an individual right to bear arms might only be using 10% of their menatl capacity...
