  •  This is why Republicans don't get blamed: (5+ / 0-)

- the super-rich want to control the agenda of the U.S.

- they have to deal with a minor annoyance called democracy and their interests don't match the interests of the 99%. Therefore, they have the Republican party.

- the Republican party has one goal: cater to the super-rich and their needs, everything else they talk about is simply to dupe their authoritarian-following base into voting for them.

- all mainstream media outlets are controlled by huge corporations, who are run by and for the super-rich (not shareholders). Conservatives therefore have sway within the MSM, anyone who works within the MSM and wants to keep their job always tries to prove they are balanced, usually by introducing false equivalency, often by starting with conservative framing on any issue.

- conservatives have spent decades building up their infrastructure of think-tanks and media (Fox News, talk radio) to create a conservative echo-chamber where their authoritarian followers can be propagandized and conservative memes and framing can be developed and given credence.

- any complex issue therefore starts out with a simple and consistent conservative viewpoint on one side, usually tapping into some kind of emotional "tough guy" point of view, where the progressive side, which is trying to actually solve a problem, must therefore be more nuanced and complex, and is easily shouted down by loudmouthed jerks, who usually outnumber a progressive by 3 to 1 on any tv broadcast.
