  •  But don't read the comments. (15+ / 0-)

They seem to be a competition in who can out-nasty the others. One advocated beating the child into submission. Another claimed that mental illness does not exist and all those who claim to be mentally ill are liars. Another strongly implied that the woman's son should be killed since he is a danger to others. Gawker badly needs some moderator attention, and a ten-pound banhammer.

    •  The heartlessness and ignorance (4+ / 0-)

in those comments were jaw-dropping. I really hope neither the author nor anyone in her family sees them.

    •  I think they trashed the comments (0+ / 0-)

At least, I didn't see any.

As for the story...I'm a bit concerned that the author was so ready to blow off her "anonymity", and therefore her son's. Yes, she used a pseudonym - for his first name only. But she republished with HER real name (and an inflammatory, attention-grabbing title), which means the "pseudonym" is no longer worth dog poo.

If everybody doesn't know who that kid is yet, they soon will. And what kind of future is he going to have? If he stabilizes enough for college - what college would dare have him? What employer would dare hire him? Who would dare be his friend?

Seems to me that by being so extremely careless with his identity, she has guaranteed that the only future he can possibly have is in one of three places: prison; a mental institution; a grave.

That's assuming that this isn't just another elaborate "Kaycee Nicole" story (or catfish tale). Which is something that hasn't been ruled out yet either.

      Then it's
      Not your choice
      And it's
      None of your damn business!
