I am truly beside myself this time. I tried to ring a warning bell about this a decade ago. The disease has only gotten worse.
Bowling for Columbine was made in 2002 (a decade ago).

His comment suggests that he meant it to be a pro-gun control documentary and/or have a pro-gun control effect on our society (which obviously failed, hence he feels "beside himself").

It doesn't really have a pro-gun control message. It's pretty scattershot and never comes to any conclusions about what caused the massacre, let alone that it was caused by lack of gun control.

      •  I will watch it again (it's been, like, years lol) (0+ / 0-)

But for now, I would rather go with the obvious interpretation provided by Michael Moore himself (the safest in my book) than yours. He obviously thinks an assault weapon ban would be a helpful step right now, and says he thought the same think a decade ago (and also spoke of the culture of violence in America being a major factor).

However, I will view it again ;).

It wasn't actually pro-gun control.  However, I would argue it was most definitely critical of US gun culture, and showed how that played a large part in the violence in this country.
