    professionals on hand.  Still, I suspect that access to mental health services even if dramatically better, will not necessarily avert many of these cases.  Psychotc breaks can occur suddenly or more gradually, and not all of the shooters have been psychotic.  At any point there are tens of thousands of poorly adapting deeply troubled high school boys who could be vulnerable to such acts.  Why one breaks and another does not is probably an unsolvable problem. The key point is that we need to keep assault weapons out of the hands of youth and adults too. The best mental health services in the world won't always prevent this if mom's got an armory at home.  

    I also think it's impractical and wrong to blame this on prescription SSRIs, which probably prevent many cases of suicide.  A kid that's on SSRIs for depression should not be handling guns anyway.
