  •  I totally agree with you on that last point. (5+ / 0-)

So why do you permit yourself a tone, not all the time but at some key times, that opens the door for people to think something awful about you?  And even if you don't care about that--which, arguably, you shouldn't because we don't really interact with each other in a non-virtual way--why don't you choose a mode of advocacy that's more effective?  You know what that is, because you use it sometimes-to-mostly.

...but I probably have a lot more fantasies about offing my enemies than you ever have or will.  But I don't advocate letting myself have the instruments that might turn my fantasies into reality. That's you're scary and I'm, at worst, obnoxious.

    •  The tone is actually part of the RKBA argument. (9+ / 0-)

There's two parts of the RKBA argument; that there's going to be a political backlash to trying any sort of gun control, and there's going to be widespread resistance, maybe violent, to any actual gun control.

An aggressive, take no prisoners, intolerant, us vs. you attitude from a gun owner actually supports those premises.  Because talking about such people is one thing, being such people is more convincing.

That's why RKBA group makes I/P look like a handholding love-in.  It is premised on being a brush back pitch.
