And real life violence makes me sick to my stomach.  I grew up in the 80s listening to all that supposedly harmful heavy metal and punk rock and when Grand Theft Auto came out I played the heck out of that.  My parents raised me well.  I knew the difference between cartoon violence and the real thing.  I was intelligent enough to read lyrics and grasp what punk bands were singing about and reject the dumber bands.

The real problem is that the US culture pretty much only values the profit motive at all costs, which creates a nihilistic worldview in the long run.  The fact that corporations place their bottom line ahead of the good of people is far more likely to be the root cause of this senseless violence than a Black Flag record or Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
