    •  Well If John Harrison Is Really [Spoiler].... (6+ / 0-)

The fact that Alice Eve is playing Carol Marcus and the last shot of the hands on the glass is a reference to 'Wrath of Khan,' a lot of internet speculation believes that Harrison will either be revealed as Khan at some point in the film or the movie will ultimately lead to Khan (and set up the third film).

It's possible that his "cure" for the sick girl might be genetic engineering (which is outlawed in the "Star Trek" universe).

i forgot about the carol marcus angle.  is it the right timeline for khan? except we have a new star trek universe.

and of course, khan is not the only gen-eng guy around, probably.

        •  According To The Backstory Of The First Film.... (5+ / 0-)

The changes done by Nero (Eric Bana) has caused Starfleet to be much more technically advanced in this timeline than in the original one (e.g. the Enterprise in this new timeline is over a half-mile long, twice the size of the Enterprise from the original timeline).

It's possible that Khan could have been found much sooner than in the original timeline, or that the Botany Bay was found by someone other than Starfleet.

Although, it would be somewhat odd if the film revealed a 20th century, genetically engineered, Sikh warlord being played by an Englishman. Although, the same Sikh warlord was played by a Mexican actor the first time around.

i almost wonder it will lean toward a less well-known storyline.

loved the enterprise hiding, and the planet w volcano and red trees.  and the baby alien.  totes adorbs.
