    if a fairly simple thing could be done to handle the assault weapon problem. Just modify the definition of a destructive device to include weapons capable of firing more than a certain number of rounds in a given time under any conceivable scenario. And keep conceiving new scenarios at least as fast as those who spend their time concocting ways to get around rules. I wonder if that's something the president could do on his own, or the BATF or somebody.

      I totally agree this would be the way to go. Worked in the 30's the last time we did it. I don't think we'll ever get a true ban passed in this country but expanding the definition of destructive device would make them be registered and highly regulated. Over tie just like the Tommy Gun and other destructive devices they would become cost prohibitive and really only the realm of collectors.
