  •  he's home, the bed is regular, food on the table (6+ / 0-)

clean poo box - he's at home and perfectly fine.  the rest of it is just Daddy doing that weird thing with moving things around.

And we sail and we sail and we never see land, just the rum in the bottle and a pipe in my hand...

... helped our daughter move half-way across the country, he drove the van with the furniture, and daughter and I were in her car.  He had her two cats in their carriers in the cab with him, and he sang to them when they started to fuss.  Hubby and the cats managed pretty well!

      •  he's fine. I'm the mess. (3+ / 0-)

As long as I am there, the poo box is clean and there is food, Nigel will manage. He's chill.

I on the other hand am trying to work up the nerve to drive across country and live with the two people who terrify me most in the entire world.  Being randomly blown up would be much easier.

My own family of origin is poison.  Just reading your words brought back the feeling of dread whenever I even thought about having to see them.  It was tearing me up - a sense of obligation vs terror.  A wise woman told me it was ok to not ever see them again ... it seems so simple now, but then it was profound to cut through all the shoulds and have-to's to allow what I really needed for myself.

Do you have an alternative to going back?  Or is there a safe haven near there that you can go to when things get hard?
