  •  women buy pink guns. There's actually a (0+ / 0-)

sizeable market for them. I did a website for a hunting resort and almost every woman had a pink gun.

committed by anyone with one of those pink guns.

Not so many guys all dressed in black or camouflage would feel quite so proud owning one of these though, I'd think.

Here's a great example of what I was suggesting: How many guys would buy a Hello Kitty Assault Rifle?

      •  But I would omit the Hello Kitty artwork, (0+ / 0-)

      •  You don't REALLY think a pink gun is less (0+ / 0-)

lethal than another color, do you? Really? You don't really think the color of the gun would dissuade a potential mass killer, do you? The ladies like the color PLUS they say they don't have to worry about anyone stealing them so much. I tend to agree. As for changing the color of guns, I believe my response is appropriately "meh". It won't do anything substantial. We've got millions of guns already in circulation that are not pink, or whatever color you prefer.

A can of black spray paint will fix that pink color in a couple of minutes, btw, so selecting a high visibility color for gun manufacture isn't something that will work if you think it will make mass shooters more visible, etc.

        •  Not less lethal, but less desirable. (0+ / 0-)

I should have done better homework before posting this diary, and I may be combing back too late now for anyone to notice, but here's a perfect illustration of what I hope my proposal could prevent:

Military styled weapons are gun manufacturers biggest sellers these days, and I think this kind of macho appeal is a big reason why.  I don't think this ad would be nearly as effective in pink.  Result: fewer sold.
