    precisely because for the reason that I saw this coming.

    Given that I'm in California this didn't effect the outcome in any way, but I do feel a certain satisfaction that I withheld my vote.

    The only trouble with retirement is...I never get a day off!

      I could not vote for the guy whose #1 wrote me off as the "professional left" and then, in an alliance with fellow corporatists, attempted to destroy the public school system of Chicago.

      And Chicago should be a lesson to us all.  You don't win anything by negotiating a deal that is less worse than the terrorists.  You win by going on offense, building a coalition, and taking direct action.

      We're not going to save and expand the safety net by voting.  Obama is what we get by voting.  Democracy, on the other hand, is in the streets.

        Observing Obama's actions while in office makes me believe that voting will not stop this country from going down the tubes. At best, voting will simply slow things down a bit.
